Generative Artist (Digital Media Artist)
The Ballarat International Foto Biennale has partly reopened, with restrictions in Ballarat currently somewhat eased.
My work in the Open Program of the Biennale is now in display in the Known World Bookshop, 28 Main Road, Ballarat.
During earlier pandemic lockdowns I departed from my usual abstract practice and made some works based on photographs. The Open Program of the Biennale has works located in shops, cafes and other venues throughout town, and my work is in the Known World Bookshop in Main Road, Ballarat.
The Biennale is a large festival, with a mixture of free and paid events. The Open Program exhibitions are all free.
Dates and times: To 9 January 2022. Hours: daily, 11am - 4pm.
Web: https://ballaratfoto.org/, http://www.facebook.com/theknownworldbookshop/.
Launch event: To be arranged, probably in November.
The Eureka Centre in Ballarat is devoted to commemorating the Eureka rebellion in Ballarat in December 1854, when the pick-and-shovel gold miners took up arms against an oppressive police force; the Centre holds the Eureka Flag, flown during the rebellion. I was engaged by the Eureka Centre to create a temporary installation, a new generative art work using data from the events of the 1854 Eureka Rebellion. My installation Eureka: Singular and Plural is currently on display.
Please check the Eureka Centre website for current COVID restrictions.
An online catalogue for the installation is available online at http://eurekacentreballarat.com.au/sites/default/files/2021-04/Gordon%20Monro_A5%20Catalogue_0.pdf. A paper catalogue is also available at the Eureka Centre.
Exhibition duration: Until 28 January 2022.
Location: 102 Stawell Street South, Eureka (Ballarat), Vic. (The Centre is just off Eureka Street.)
Hours: Daily, 10am - 5pm. Free for residents of Ballarat; there is a small entrance fee otherwise.
And Gallery opened in Sorrento (Sorrento Victoria, not Sorrento Italy) at the end of 2020. I have work in their stockroom, and usually some is on display.
And Gallery has a focus on sculpture,
though it is also open to works in other media (mine are digital prints).
Gallery hours: Thurs–Mon, 10am–5pm
